So many lights
to light up the nights
and fading days
as darkness settled
into our sights
every year
so charming and brilliant
the joy they bring our hearts
so touching and resilliant.
Now the lights are almost out
the holidays
in Anglo culture
over
no doubt
but along with the change
to the brand new year
comes bright winter sunshine
which will shift lowly spirits
from the recent dark days
into the light
into first grear.
Shine on me light
of winter’s sun
so I may fly
so I may cry out
like the winter crow
so abandoned
on the bare treetop.
Ignite in me
your warmth
your fire
hold me gently
touching me
laying me stretched
upon an illuminated
living pyre
as your heat engages
my loving soul
urging me
to rise
to dance
to inspire
as my level of confidence
my level of achievement
my level of fulfillment
my level of love
all rise
increasingly higher.
Light my way
winter sun
staying longer each day
as we journey
towards Spring.
