Finally a warm day
a day above fifty degrees
no snow or no rain
having fallen lately so
what a better time
to traverse the trail.
Patches of snow covering
the hills so shaded with
pines and maples still bare
being not yet budded
to usher in the new growth
of leaves to add more beauty.
A muddy ground on the inner-path
with vegetations still razed
from the weight of winter’s tempest
while more gentler breezes now fill the air
between the branches still brown and bare.
The spirits of the past summer
finding fall recreation among the silent trailers
have now departed as the air begins
to thicken and moisten with warmth
making ready for the tarps soon to come off.
