Censored Life

Filed under: Poetry — migueltio @ 9:05 am

Miles and miles
years and years
down the road
trapped
with no choice
trapped
with no voice
stifled in
no oxygen
just noise.

We were too young
too young to drive
too young to be noticed
that we were
actually alive
to know what the world
really had in store
sheltered and choked
was the pact to which
she swore.

That we would not know
that we would not discuss
all that which
she kept undercover
different cultures
rock and roll
sides of town to her
a drug ridden hole.

So much to listen to
so much to see
that we had to fight for
to make a choice free
so much hidden
from possibility
as if we were peasants
to her aristocracy.

Today I choose
I choose to be ME
not someone else’s
pre-conceived
opinion to be
from limit
from censorship
I have fought relentlessly
to shape my true
fired personality.
