How Do We Afford What We “Afford”?

Filed under: Poetry — migueltio @ 7:11 pm

Through hard times

we walk

of hard times

we talk

of rising prices

financial crisis

we squeak

we squawk.

Every other week

a new gadget

by a new geek

of nothing else

do we speak

as we begin

a spending streak

obsessed we become

we “MPFreak”!!

With what money

do we launch this

technological obsession

when just last week

we complained of a

recession almost as

bad as The Great Depression

so many jobs lost

as we struggle with

the cost to

feed ourselves and

our families through

this price rise oppression.

So why if

our children barely

have enough to eat

can we keep on

affording each

new gadget on

the street?

Each new Pad

each new Pod

is NOT cheap

they cost a wad

when they ask

for our hundreds

we submit with a

nod as if we had

just bought

a gift from God!!

With so much

unemployment

such an economic

mess

I could

understand

if they cost

a LOT less.

Why can

 multitudes

and

droves

line up early

to possess

but for basic

living needs

they complain

with high stress?

    • Oh no doubt. Look at all the economic problems all over the world; not just our own countries, but the rest of Asia, Europe, etc… the list goes on. YET, everybody has a Pad or Pod that was close to $200 and an HD flat screen this that was thousands of dollars. Its all high price, high end now and its sad. Thank you so much for the feedback and for sharing your works with me too.
