Sometimes you are only
told one side of the story.
That side you are given
is sometimes scantily
scribbled with ends untied
and pieces unconnected.
efforts for a while dead ends.
Little pieces traversing
times and places of information
closing chronological separation
forging links to a past generation.
After digging and piecing
snippets a major breakthrough landed.
Suddenly many unknowns take
on a new understanding of time
of place of decisions made
and of sacrifice long paid.
A new development uncovered sometimes
useless sometimes more valuable than life itself.
People always ask me why
I have such a heart for “different”
parts of New York I was not sure now I know
I just discovered my father was born there.
