Seasons Unstable

Filed under: Poetry — migueltio @ 10:22 am

Chilly air keeping the
body on its toes not as
relaxing an afternoon
of warmth in Mid July.

Brown weeds dryer than
Colorado forests poke through
asphalt looking for the
sun who inflicted their birth.

Crickets silent and
bees confused on a
day more like the
time to be dormant.

Clouds in great cluster
not staying long but
only allowing thin stripes
between their heavy barricades.

The summer bird having glided
from tree to tree since its
May arrival feels a chill now
contemplating a Florida return.

Chilly afternoon not
much warmer than the earlier
morning only a reminder of
many similar coming soon.
