For Greater Good

Nature sometimes

needs technology

and technology

is beautiful when

it helps nature

endure and prosper.

When the right minds

get together

and learn how much better

a plant can be tended

to and harvested for

greater good for greater

survival

that is one example of when

technology too

is beautiful.

Things are not so beautiful

when mass plantings for

mass production cause

mass sickness and mass

destruction all in the name

of a marketed label that

serves an empty future

to a household table.

Let machines and gadgets

evolve but let the products

of nature do the same in

ways that add to a greater

natural good

not a tasteless

hidden

shame.

Not So Typical Christmastime

Walking along the streets

or along the roads not so

busy bordering the edge

of town eyeing many homes

ready for the days

ahead with lights, figures,

inflatables, or trees are

looking pretty grey pretty

damp pretty worn by

the lack of the

annual scene of a December

Winter’s morn.

December does not look

right in the northeast

without snow in sight.

Am I disappointed?

Not quite, given the lack

of treacherous drives

by night.

It will come snow

will come in an onslaught

things will change

through patience through

diligence December

will cease from

looking so strange.

Through patience through

diligence and a good dose

of January storms

and squalls will bury

the world of the

northeast

releasing winter’s

furious beast devouring

this “warmth” in

a furious feast

like Seuss’s ” rare who

pudding” or “rare

who roast beast”.

Pixley Day

Sunning out on a July

Sunday afternoon in the

warmth of summer’s harvest

of air.

The heat

settles down as

a gentle breeze comes floating

off the natural wonder

before me.

This wonderful falls

no less wonderful than that

of Niagara or than that

of Victoria.

This beautiful place on this

beautiful day may be smaller

and may be simpler but is still enjoyed

by many.
