Good Or Bad (You Decide)

Year’s end brings about

many decisions forcing

many to talk about

what was decided as

others sometimes feel

jaded as others sometimes

feel chided.

Year’s end brings about

many decisions which

in hopes and dreams

bring out better than

what the decision seems

to the eyes the ears and

the minds of those who

enjoyed what “was”.

It is challenging for the many

to remember that the decision

maker only wants to make

things better as they

may have lit many lights

pacing many nights

not only in December

but also November

way back to September

hoping to end the

ongoing fights

replacing the many

wrongs with new

chapters of rights.

To the decision maker

we hope for

a resolution

that will guide their

evolution to a

resounding revolution

that will arise their

dreams, their new

visions, new schemes

avoiding a falter of

complete disillusion.

How Can We Stop It?

They need help

it is that simple

it is that easy to

see they need help

their vision lost

of the best they

can be their vision

distorted by every past

shooting spree

that every page on

the net tags so famously.

They play games today

that lack real

places

that lack real

races

of people that

have real

hearts

real faces

who would actually

die in the

violent car chases

seen by kids today

barely old enough

for braces

who learn

how to burn

with no real

concern

for social

consequences

or societal

disgraces.

I am not one

who believes that

a gun

should totally go

away

removing the rights

of those who

hunt or

properly display

but somehow

and somewhere

there needs to be

underway

a solution

to keep them out

of hands

that will

kill

the innocent

today.

Thankful Times

The flavor of the winter
on a cold morning after
a storm starts with a kitchen full
of busy hand making
while snow is flaking
a warm oven baking.

Steam laced with scents that
engage the heart in happiness while reawakening
childhood memories.

Mugs filled
with the warmth of coffee, tea, or cocoa
that soothes the throat when sipped.

Eyes smiling as
family members not together recently
give good company.

Thoughts of hope and
happiness fill the soul and the mind
as the holidays usher the year’s end.
